Working with Dr. Jay T. Wiles
A small number of people at a time
Dr. Wiles takes on very few clients, and not on a schedule. Whether there is room right now depends on who is finishing. The only way to find out is to ask him.

Why the list is kept short
Every protocol here is built to one person's physiology. Your resonance frequency is not the population average, your recovery pattern is not anyone else's, and the training only works when it is fitted to the data coming off you specifically.
That is slow, and it does not scale. Holding a small number of clients is not a marketing posture. It is the condition that makes individualized work possible at all. When the list is full, it is full.
What the work actually is
Most mental performance coaching works on the mind. This starts one level down, with the nervous system the mind is running on.
The conventional version of the field came out of sport psychology and teaches mental skills: goal setting, visualization, self-talk, routines before competition. Those tools are real. But they assume you can reach them under pressure, and that assumption is exactly what breaks when the stakes are high.
Dr. Wiles works the other direction. Before asking what you are thinking under pressure, he measures what your body is doing, because a nervous system stuck in sympathetic activation will not run a mental skill properly no matter how well you have rehearsed it. Get the physiology able to shift states on demand, and the psychological work starts holding.
Who this is for
The thread is not that these people are struggling. It is that they are running a nervous system hard and have never trained it directly.
- Executives and founders carrying sustained decision load, where a slow recovery compounds across a quarter rather than a game.
- Elite and professional athletes. Dr. Wiles has worked with Olympians, a Super Bowl champion, a Cy Young winner, a Hart Trophy winner and a PGA major champion, and across the PGA, LPGA, MLS, MLB, ATP and WTA.
- Operators and high-consequence professionals, where state control is the job and there is no off-season to recover in.
The pattern that usually brings people in: performance is still fine, but recovery is not. Sleep has become unreliable. The drop from effort into rest takes hours where it used to take minutes. Pressure that used to be routine has started landing differently.
What makes it different
It starts with measurement, not mindset
The first work is finding out how your autonomic nervous system is actually behaving, using heart rate variability and a structured assessment. That gives a baseline to train against rather than a conversation about how you have been feeling lately.
A clinician reads your data, not an algorithm
Your sessions and daily data run through The Resilient Engine, and the reports are reviewed by Dr. Wiles before they reach you. An app can tell you your number dropped. It cannot tell you whether that is a cold coming on, a hard session two days ago, or training load outrunning recovery. Those look identical on a chart and call for three different responses.
It is a training discipline, with a progression
The framework is Nervous System Resiliency Training, which Dr. Wiles developed: a target adaptation, a primary stimulus, a measurement system and a progression logic, structured the way exercise physiology structures cardiovascular training. Not a set of techniques handed over and left with you.
What an engagement looks like
Assessment first, then a resonance frequency protocol built to your own physiology, then training between sessions with the data coming back for review. Coaching works on what the data is showing and on the psychological and behavioral side in parallel. The protocol changes when the numbers say it should, not on a fixed schedule.
The daily training is short. Roughly 8 to 12 minutes, 4 to 5 days a week. It is a habit rather than a block of time, and consistency matters more than duration.
What this is not
- Not therapy. This is performance work. It is not treatment for a mental health condition and it is not a substitute for clinical care.
- Not classic sport psychology. There is psychological work in it, but the entry point is physiological and the training is measured.
- Not a course. Nothing here is a recording you buy and work through alone.
- Not a funnel. There is no free discovery call and no sales sequence. You email, and you get an answer.
- Not a score to chase. HRV is the instrument, not the goal. Raising a number in an app is not the adaptation.
The only way in
Ask whether there is room
Tell Dr. Wiles what has changed and what you want back. If there is a place open and it looks like a fit, he will say so. If there is not, he will tell you that too.

Common questions
How is this different from a sports psychologist?
A sport psychologist typically works on the psychology of performance: confidence, focus, composure, routines. Dr. Wiles is a clinical health and performance psychologist whose entry point is psychophysiology, so the work starts with autonomic measurement and training, then brings the psychological tools in on top of a nervous system that can use them.
Do I have to be an athlete?
No. A large share of the work is with executives and founders. The autonomic nervous system does not know whether the load is a championship or a board meeting, and it responds to training the same way in both.
Can we work remotely?
Yes. Assessment, protocol design and ongoing coaching all work remotely, and the app carries the data in between. Dr. Wiles works with clients across the United States from Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Do I need a wearable?
You need something that measures beat to beat intervals reliably. Most consumer wearables are adequate, and Dr. Wiles will tell you what is worth using and what is not.
What happens after I email?
Dr. Wiles reads it himself and replies. If there is no room he will say so, rather than put you into a sequence.
What does it cost?
That depends on what the work turns out to be, which is what the first conversation is for. Fees are discussed directly once it is clear the engagement is a fit.
